Wine by the Bandol

Bandol with a friend

L’homme du midi. Wines from southern France, like Bandol are my favorites. Many people would like this one. I can’t describe it like an aficionado, so please try it.

Red and though meaty, we ate it with chicken and butternut squash. Silky smooth and not too young. If you find you like the cépage or grape variety, then we should talk about others.

All this American could do was bring something to wash it down.

Another wonderful lunch with my friends.

Cute when Americans complain in France

we saw the cutest thing....

a young American woman complained about how she waited for service at the phone store.

I should complain to her about her complaining as it wasted my time, too. Welcome to France - grab a baguette and get used to it.

Butts

from the Mayor of Paris in a tweet: (translated by Google for us)

Ann Hildago says,

One butt is enough to pollute 500 liters of water! In Paris, smokers must take responsible actions. 24,500 fines were imposed in 2017 on those who persist in throwing their butts on the ground. Behaviors must change! #Cleanliness

Me:

Paris looks cleaner than when I arrived, and I see people who use designated places for cigarettes in Paris. It seems that more people are trying to keep the city cleaner.

18 years and still fighting

If you haven’t heard this passionate speech - as one more time the 1st responders are forced to grovel for health care as they wither and die, then it’s a good time to do it. Thankfully John Stewart speaks to Congress (those that showed up).

Thank you all for saving NYC and the spirit of America, and Congress should always do the right thing and help the people who helped us.

Tell your Congress person.

Minou

Some of my favorite photos of Minou. He looks cute but let’s say he wasn’t the sweetest cat. He was a NYC stray kitten from 1st and 35th where I found him on my walks after Loki had passed.

They never live long enough but at least Minou lived well with Mom, terrorizing the other cats and critters. Katrina made us his designated parents even though I tried my best to have him adopted. Luckily, he adopted us and then found NYC wasn’t the right atmosphere for such a punk. He needed freedom to roam.

I’ll never forget our mornings, Minou, when you’d lay just out of reach - I’d always pretend to do something else, then grab you and hold you firmly in my lap till you started purring from all the attention.

And still you’d find a way to slip away, like today. Kisses Minou, and thanks Mom, as always.

Undiscovered Book?

Did my Aubile account find a hidden gem unknown to the world?

for some reason I’m seeing book titles with authors other than the ones who wrote the book. Can you guess the right author with the right book?

Better yet, would you like this book written?

I think I’d love it.

Paris - snow?

I can’t remember when it snowed last in Paris but I’m sure I have an earlier post from a bygone era.

This week, when it floods it snows!

New experience: this dad and son were throwing snowballs under the nose of Édith Piaf.

The kid got whacked by dad a little too hard. Gloves went flying and the poor garçon  was crying, until dad hugged him and apologized.

America wants more care not less - guess who doesn't listen?

.....excerpt below from NPR ...

In fact, while many Americans want changes to the ACA, also known as Obamacare, they want it to be more far-reaching. A 46 percent plurality say they want to see the ACA do more, while just 7 percent want it to do less. Keeping the ACA and having it do less is essentially what GOP congressional plans are doing.

Witch Hunt!

With that hair, tan and tie, I'm sure he'll never be mistaken for a witch.

Paris d'Accord

Does Donald Trump now works for Pittsburg, and not America?  It seems that helping the world is beyond his pay grade.

As we all know, Paris wouldn't want him. It's a beautiful city, non?

Special New Yorker

Once again today, I am reminded of all the special people that I lived with and never knew.

Thank you Raymond Pfeifer, thank you to all the people who responded to the tragedy on 9/11 and shame to all the politicians that could even consider cutting funding for those that helped.

health, families, communities and caring

Linked way off...

Thanks Linked way off....

This is disrupting my day. Why the F did I receive this? And who the F would believe the title?

Nice button down motif... I am only thankful the Repubs have the little girl sniffing his armpit, while I think he stares off at the clock telling him how long before he eats dinner with another wealthy donor.
